With games unable to start before 12pm and volunteers set to be stretched with marches throughout the district, clubs are considering playing on Sunday, April 26.
"The same situation arose in 2015 and several clubs opted to play on the Sunday," league president Brendan I'Anson said.
"I know some have indicated they will be still playing on the Saturday.
"We will leave it up to the clubs to decide."
If Saturday matches went ahead, the under-14s would more than likely start at midday, followed by reserve and senior grade clashes.
The under-17s would most likely be played last if the lighting is up to scratch .
The league kicks off on April 4 with Osborne unfurling its premiership flag against Brock-Burrum at Osborne.
Other round one highlights are Holbrook's clash with Culcairn and Rand-Walbundrie-Walla's showdown with Billabong Crows.
Burrumbuttock will host Brock-Burrum's opening three matches of the season while Rand will do the same with the Giants.
An Easter bye is scheduled for April 18, the Queen's Birthday is free of football on June 6 and there is a general bye on July 11.
The grand final will be played on September 19.
