But Ms Marino confirmed there had been a last-minute hitch.
"All three levels of government remain committed to delivering an Albury Wodonga regional deal, however the proposed event date was not suitable for all parties," she said.
"The three levels of government will work together to identify a suitable time to formally sign the statement of intent for the Albury Wodonga regional deal, which will outline the scope and set out our collective vision and commitment to the deal.
"The areas of focus in the statement of intent will form the basis of business and community consultation about the specific commitments to be included in the regional deal.
"Local stakeholders will continue to be critical to delivering a deal that the region owns and can be proud of.
"In the new year, we expect to kick-off in-earnest community consultations to understand the priorities, opportunities and challenges that exist in the region.
"We expect consultations will continue throughout the deal formation to ensure the deal will deliver the future prosperity and liveability for the region."
One of the biggest infrastructure projects being discussed in Albury-Wodonga is a single campus, state of the art hospital on a greenfield site servicing the twin cities and surrounds.
