Bushfire smoke also forced the cancellation of New Year's Day racing at Gundagai, while Tumut's first TAB meeting in almost two decades scheduled for Saturday has been postponed until January 18.
The rescheduled meeting is set to clash with Wangaratta's meet which has been transferred to Echuca and cause some logistical dramas with some jockeys now booked for both meetings.

Club chief Steve Hetherton said he was hopeful Monday's meeting would go ahead.
"The positive is if the air quality improves, the forecast for Monday is 22 degrees which is a lot better for participants than 40," Hetherton said.
"It's not ideal clashing with Wangaratta and not something we planned.
"But there has been several meetings either abandoned or postponed in the Southern district and participants need to earn an income."
