Albury boasts 13 players taking to the court for New South Wales, while three players from Wodonga will represent Victorian teams.
Wangaratta also has two players competing in the tournament to be held on Albury and Wodonga courts starting Monday.
Basketball Development officer Peter Bauerle said it was great to see an increase in local kids selected to compete in the tournament.
"It's much more than what we've had in previous years," Bauerle said.
ALSO IN SPORT:
"We (Albury) may have had two to four players previously.
"It's probably the biggest representation we've had.
"This event has been in Albury now for 35 years and is a huge event and great for the athletes.
"It brings huge economy into the town and is just a real boost for our kids, they can't wait to get out there."
Under-14 players from Albury Basketball Association include Lily Harrison, Isabella McKerlie, Molly McLaren, Zali Sims, Ella Stevens, Mackenzie Thomson, Addison Wheeler, Jake Bauerle, Cooper Hall, Sonny Junck and Oliver Mack, as well as two under-16 players based in Tumut.
Wodonga Basketball's Mitchell Hack and Harry Stripeikis will compete in the under-14's boys competition, while Ruby Watson will play in the under-16's girls and Joel Saines is set to referee games.
Cooper Newton and Thomas Briggs will fly the flag for Wangaratta in the under-14's.
Despite earlier concerns poor air quality may impact the tournament, it's set to commence as planned.
"Directors met on Thursday night to say that they would go ahead," Bauerle said.
"Obviously they're watching the air quality and they'll manage the games around the air quality."
Teams representing New Zealand began training in Albury after landing ahead of the event, with teams expected to arrive from New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australian, Queensland and the Northern Territory in the coming days.
