"The committee believes that there are club members in clubs in the east of our region that need some respite from either fighting fires, protecting their properties or helping in the provision of aid or manning relief centres, and that playing bowls is something they don't need to do at this point in time," the committee statement said.
ALSO IN SPORT:
"There are clubs that are still in no position to play bowls and are in 'watch and act' areas and we don't think it's appropriate that we travel into or through these locations for bowls.
"Some communities still have limited road access to their towns.
"The temperature is forecast to increase to 37 in parts of our region and, although this is under our temperature threshold, it may result in flare-ups in a number of active fires in our region.
"Whilst the threat of new fires have eased we are still being advised not to be complacent."
The committee hopes to resume play with weekend pennant on Saturday.
