Large shipping containers were brought into Bright and Harrietville before Friday's extreme fire conditions preempting the towns would be cut off from essential supplies.
The containers weren't needed but Emergency Services Minister Lisa Neville said more of the "forward deployment of supplies" would be issued in extreme fire or flood conditions.

"There were concerns those communities would be isolated after Friday," she said.
"They have satellite phones, food, baby formula, nappies, torches, really key things that would enable the community to get by for the first sort of 24 to 48 hours.
