Backburning is under way in the Harrietville region as firefighters take advantage of milder weather.
Deputy Incident Controller Mark Owens on Sunday told a town meeting favourable conditions were expected for another four to seven days.

There were 71 pieces of machinery and 15 aircraft in use, with another seven requested, to support backburning operations.
He said residents could expect to see more smoke between Buffalo River and Dinner Plain.
