Listen to the facts
There is too much misinformation over the Greens' policies on fuel reduction burns. Their policies are available online, and the Greens have never been in government.

A former NSW fire and rescue commissioner, Greg Mullins, has written that the hotter and drier conditions, and the higher fire danger ratings, were preventing agencies from carrying out prescribed burning. He said: "Blaming 'greenies' for stopping these important measures is a familiar, populist, but basically untrue claim."
I understand that local councils still control vegetation in urban areas. Prof Ross Bradstock, the director of the centre for environmental risk management of bushfires at the University of Wollongong, who has been researching bushfires for 40 years, stated that "blaming Greenies for the fire crisis is simply conspiracy stuff. It's an obvious attempt to deflect the conversation away from climate change." I hope my letter encourages people to reflect on this issue. We all need to think about who we believe about the main causes of climate change and how we may address these urgently.

To all, our thanks
On behalf of my husband Tom and myself I would personally like to thank the people who protected our town.
I also would like to thank the Commercial Club, the evacuation centre in Albury, the Astor Hotel, and Scott Prior. To the other evacuees, we would also like to thank for your company over the trying 10 days.

A petty hissy fit
I write in response to the opinion piece by Crispin Hull ('Morrison has proven he's not up to the task', The Border Mail, January 11).
Where do you start and finish in answering this article? I'll try a few words: A putrid sore from Australian journalism and a petty hissy fit. I'm sure there are many more.
The Prime Minister of our democratic country is not in charge of state affairs, under the Constitution he or she has to normally wait before giving aid.
Let's break down some of this long tirade. The retired fire chiefs had in their careers in state government the chance to speak out. They did not at any time. Why? Global heating (warming) is a lie, climate change is a scientific fact. This was known by the Egyptians, Romans and the great nation China.
Australia's contribution to global warming puts us at 14th in the world. China is 30 per cent, United States 15 per cent, India 7 per cent, Russia 5 per cent, Japan 4 per cent. Coalition MP Craig Kelly has the temerity to tell the truth. That hurts.
Malcolm Fraser backed and pushed for change in South Africa. History tells it all.
Mr Hull, the rest of your article is not worth commenting on. As a journalist, please do your research on a number of issues including global heating. Fairness in journalism? Criticise the left wing and their wonderful non-workable ideas.
Shame, shame that this was allowed to be put in any Australian paper.
