Mr Schilg said about eight semi loads of hay had already been delivered to the Corryong saleyards and Jingellic showgrounds this week thanks to the generosity of local trucking companies.

Baling was still underway on Monday with more farmers and contractors offering stubble, machinery and labour after The Border Mail report a week ago.

Mr Schilg described feeling compelled to act after donating one load of hay to a woman who had been burnt out in Corryong fires and was struggling to keep stock alive.

He enlisted the support of fellow Walla farmer and high-profile Border muso Danny Phegan who was only to happy to help keep the wheels rolling sourcing fuel for trucks and machinery.

In his post he said "Jason and Shelley (Schilg) have done an enormous job" and thanked everyone involved "particularly the massive effort being put in by the Moll family (Blowy, Liz, Stirls, Gemma and Kaye)."

Mr Schilg said he was continually amazed by the generosity of people in the district given there was still a lot of summer left to go in drought conditions.

"We've also had six full semi loads of hay donated plus other bits and pieces," he said.

"People also have to remember that people are going to need help with feed for a long time to come."

Mr Schilg said fire-impacted farmers had big decisions to make in the coming weeks.

"To have livestock losses on already depleted numbers due to drought raises questions about where to run remaining stock, how to keep feed up to them or whether to sell," he said.
