The business employs 988 people across 146 stores Australia-wide.
KPMG's Peter Gothard and James Stewart were appointed administrators on Wednesday.
In a statement, they said operations will continue while they conduct and urgent analysis of the business.
The news comes as Harris Scarfe prepares to close in Albury.
