The New Zealand international has named himself a certain starter for Sunday's Cricket Victoria Regional Big Bash clash against Langwarrin in Bendigo.
Victory will see Lavington progress to the decider against Strathdale-Martisans or Haig Fawkner at Melbourne's Junction Oval on Australia Day.
Tuffey announced his retirement after the Cricket Albury-Wodonga Provincial finals series last year, but revealed he's "got the bug back" in recent weeks.
Opening the batting, Tuffey clobbered 45 from 27 balls in the win against East Ringwood, before backing it up with 36 off 20 and 3-14 in a 10-wicket rout of Forest Hill.
"I've actually enjoyed playing the ones down in Melbourne. We had a bloke pull out the night before and I got the bug, enjoyed playing and did alright," Tuffey said.
ALSO IN SPORT:
"I had pretty good success opening the batting last year in some of the one-day games.
"I enjoy facing the best bowlers and the ball is nice and hard, so if you play positive cricket there's a lot of runs to be had at the top.
"Sammy Harris and I put on about 70 from six overs in the first game we played and hopefully the two of us can get us off to a good start and lay the foundation for guys like Nathan Brown and Darcy I'Anson to come in and finish it off.
"The onus is on one of us in the top three to get a score and thankfully over the last few games it's been myself, which is always nice."
Tuffey said a win in this tournament would help rectify what's been a "disappointing" CAW campaign.
"Obviously we want to win the (CAW) one-day comp towards the end of the season, but this would be a good consolation," he said.
"Junction Oval is obviously a first class ground and it's always good to play at those kind of venues, especially for the guys in our team that wouldn't have played on grounds like that."
Sunday's match starts at 2.30pm at All Seasons Oval.
