Tyrone Hunter, 34, stuffed the item up his jumper on July 18 last year after chatting away to a female employee at Erotic Nights for about 20 minutes.
The North Albury man "apologised profusely" for his actions, the Wodonga Magistrates Court heard recently, which he admitted to police.
The $85 item was found in his backpack on August 13, but he couldn't explain why he had taken it.
Magistrate Ian Watkins asked if the item could be returned to the store.

"I'd assume it couldn't be resold your honour," Leading Senior Constable Penny Lawler replied.
Mr Watkins told Hunter that thefts from small businesses hit hard.
"It's a theft of a product from a small business," he said.
"Small business is hard work.
"When stock walks out of the door like that, they've got to work even harder to make up the loss."
He was fined $300 plus $84 in costs, and must pay $85 in compensation for the stolen item.
