A man will appear in Albury court today charged by detectives with the alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl.

Police said in October 2019, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a girl was sexually assaulted by a man she met on social media.
"Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 28-year-old man at Albury Police Station about 1pm yesterday," a police statement said.
"He was charged with aggravated sex assault-victim under the age of 16 years and have sexual intercourse with child between 10 and 14 years.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Police will allege in court that the man sexually assaulted the girl in October 2019.
"The man was refused bail to appear at Albury Local Court today."
Investigations are continuing.
