Police have confirmed they are investigating a video of animal cruelty on a kangaroo.

The video has been shared to multiple Border-based Facebook groups and shows a man punching a kangaroo on the ground.
The Border Mail has chosen not to show the video due to its confronting and graphic nature.
A NSW Police spokesperson said police know about the video.
"Police are aware of videos circulating on social media regarding possible acts of animal cruelty," the statement said.
