Parents raised concerns late last year about apparent changes to the 616 country service that excluded primary school students who had caught that bus for years.
Families without alternative transport relied on the 616, were prepared to pay for a service and felt other options suggested would be less safe and increase travel times.
Department of Transport director regional public transport Steve Ryan confirmed the additional buses on Friday, saying the department had been working with Dysons bus company to ensure transport was available for "day one, term one".

"We know how important it is to the Wodonga community for students to have access to bus services," Mr Ryan said.
"We're putting on extra buses for students not eligible to access the free school bus service."
He encouraged parents and guardians to contact their school or Dysons Wodonga for more information.
A Dyson Group spokesman said the two services would be temporary, operating in the morning and afternoon only, with the department to monitor student numbers.
"These two temporary services will operate from the west and also from the south, both servicing the CBD, and it is hoped will be able to move the majority of affected students to and from their learning institutions," he said.
Wodonga Primary School parent Jemma Strauss had heard the new bus would be a paid service that followed the same route as the 616.
"Which is fantastic, that's the outcome that we wanted," she said.
"I'm really glad I have a way to get my kids home safely."
