A camp was established at Jingellic ahead of the Australia Day weekend and co-ordinator Eugene O'Brien expects operations will continue for some time.

"It could go on for months longer," he said.

"We've been doing a lot of clearing, working out of Jingellic and within the 20 kilometres or so around it, and now we've started rebuilding fences.

"We've got about 50 properties registered for assistance.

"We're always looking for volunteers; the more we can get, the quicker we can get the work done."

Hayden Drummond was assisted by BlazeAid volunteers on Wednesday at Mount Alfred.

"I've lost track of days, but it would have been a good week ago or more that we stated pulling fencing down," he said.

"We didn't lose our house or very many livestock, but our place and a property we lease next to it was 100 per cent burnt out.

"Immediately after the fire we were concentrating on livestock ... now it's certainly getting blocks up and running again."

There a second BlazeAid camp running at the Corryong showgrounds, which has also been the base for a group of Border community members providing immediate fencing help.

Barry Membrey of the Rotary Club of Belvoir-Wodonga has been co-ordinating "Rotary emergency fencing" activities since early January.

"We've completed a lot of work but there's still a lot of work to do," he said.

"BlazeAid will be able to help farmers do internal fencing and are longer-term.

"We'll be in a position to hand things over to BlazeAid, or possibly to a Shepparton rotary club, around February 14."

A small army responded to social media call-outs to help with fencing, catering, and resources.

"I think we've made a real impact," Mr Membrey said.

"We may not have done full boundary fences, but we've certainly gone a long way towards that, for 110 or 120 farmers now.

"It's been extremely gratifying to be able to bring the volunteers together and do things for the community."

Mr Membrey said from his observations, affected landowners were accessing government support.

"We have heard quite a few have applied for the $75,000 grant and I'm confident that will work OK," he said.

Mr Drummond said he had found the right contacts for financial support.

"I registered for a clean-up of some burnt shed and that led to phone calls regarding assistance," he said.

"I knew of most of the things they were talking about.

"I'm aware of the grant of up to $75,000 and I will be applying for that - the application is partly done and it's getting around to it, but it's also based on what you spend.

"The assistance in general has been pretty good.

"The amount of people dropping in food and donated fodder has been unbelievable."

Mr Drummond said looking ahead of immediate measures to care for and contain his 350 cattle, rain was needed.

"Certainly [you're looking at] reduced income," he said.

"Animals have been sold prior to when they would normally have been and at lesser value, and pasture recovery is going to be another thing.

"An early Autumn break would be fantastic.

"Everyone's tired, but pretty good; there's been a reasonable amount of social activity organised to get people together."
