Ninteen-year-old Xavier Naish will play permanently at W.J. Findlay Oval if he misses out on a spot with Richmond's VFL side.
He played for Old Ivanhoe Grammarians last season after spending two years with the Northern Knights.
In another massive recruiting coup for Wangaratta Rovers, Werribee's Ryan Hebron has named the Hawks as his home club.
They are however unlikely to see much of Hebron after he enjoyed a strong debut season in the VFL last year as an intercept defender.
Hebron could play in round one against Yarrawonga with Werribee having the bye.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Wangaratta Rovers have launched arguably the biggest off-season recruiting raid in the Ovens and Murray in a decade with 14 players committing.
Coach Daryn Cresswell also has Tyson Hartwig (Doncaster), Ryan Stone (Heidelberg), Jamason Daniels and Charlie Hill (Tatura), Alex Marklew (Werribee), Michael Manteit (Southport), Tyrone Armitage (Sydney), Matt Ivill (Euroa), Ben McIntosh (Albury), Elijah Amery (Lavington), Cal McFadden (Wollongong) and Sam Murray (Williamstown) locked away.
Hebron, Marklew, Manteit and Murray are on VFL lists and have named the Hawks as their second club along with last season's players Nathan Cooper (Richmond), Charlie Thompson and Max Spencer (Werribee) and Nick Murray (Williamstown).
Rovers will easily exceed their 40 player points this season if everyone is available with several players set to drop back to the reserves.
Their player points was cut from 44 this year.
The Hawks have had up to 60 players on the track during pre-season training with Cresswell's line-up emerging as a genuine premiership contender.
