So bringing the Wangaratta youngster face-to-face with her favourite author at a family day in Albury was a must.
The event with book signings, craft activities and exhibition tours was held at the Albury LibraryMuseum as part The Lynley Dodd Story opening on Saturday.
Amelia won a prize for her Slinky Malinki costume in a dress-up competition.
"Amelia loves Hairy Maclary and all of the books," mum Eryn Lee said.
"We haven't got all of them, but we're getting there."
Amelia helped her mum with the costume but said Slinky Malinki, from Hairy Maclary, wasn't actually her favourite character.
"It's [the dog] Schnitzel von Krumm - he's so cute," she said.
The Lynley Dodd Story features 50 original artworks from Dodd, exploring her early work, processes and characters - including some of the lesser-known ones.
The exhibition, curated by Penelope Jackson, has seen Border masterclasses already sell out.
"But we have a story time and signing at Lavington Library on March 6," LibraryMuseum exhibition curator Kate Eastick said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"The next big one is of course March 7, which is our dog's breakfast.
"Lynley will be here, Penelope will be doing floor talks and we'll have heaps of things in QEII Square like markets and a dog groomer.
"It's going to be amazing ... this has been the most joyful exhibition to install."
The travelling exhibition was curated for the AWESOME Festival in Perth, and will run at Albury until April 26.
