The women's side moved straight into the grand final after coming first in their pool before sealing the deal with a 14-4 win against the visitors.

Pirates came out of the blocks strong in the first term to cement an early lead before a five goal third term saw them hit the front by 10.

Coach Georgia Polkinghorne said her side will take a lot of confidence away from the weekend, which saw teams from around the state land on the Border.

"It's been a good weekend for everyone I think, especially having the likes of Ballarat and Geelong here who we don't get the chance to play very often," Polkinghorne said.

"It was a really good standard of competition.

"It gives us a lot of confidence going into finals season and gives us a bit of momentum to work on a few things that we've been talking about.

"We've improved this weekend and hopefully we can just keep improving as the season goes on.

"It was good that they stayed in the game and kept us going.

"They let us know when we were starting to relax a bit."

Polkinghorne praised the efforts off the whole side in the win, with standout performances coming from Rosanna Youings and Eliza Carrol.

"Rosie was like the backbone of our team for a few games there and definitely saved us in centre back a few times," she said.

"Eliza's definitely come out of her shell."

Sharks finished undefeated in the women's competition, however were not eligible to advance to finals due to not competing in the event last year.

Sharks' Leah Dodd was named the tournament's most valuable player for the three day tournament.

The men's grand final also had a strong Border flavour with Sharks accounting for Albury Tigers 9-5.

Albury defeated Pool Pirates in a tight semi-final battle to cement their place in the decider, while Sharks overcame Ballarat 12-4 to find their grand final berth.

Northside also had a solid tournament coming second in their pool, however were also ineligible to progress through to finals.

Northside's Tyson Mutsch was named the tournament's most valuable player in the men's competition.

Teams from Wodonga and the Surf Coast also contested the championships.

The Ovens and Murray water polo competition will recommence next weekend for round 13, with the men's draw seeing Sharks meet Pool Pirates and Northside to take on Albury.

In the women's, Pool Pirates and Sharks will meet, while Albury will face the O and M development side.
