A fundraiser was launched by the Goorambat and District Community Group in July last year, with no public facilities available to their 50,000 annual visitors.

Schneider Electric saw the appeal and donated a former work site toilet facility, which was surplus to needs.

Secretary Anne-Marie Greenway said the group was now just a couple thousand dollars away from completing the facility.

"It took us until Christmas to get official permits through to put a septic tank in," she said.

"In late January, we had a plumber do the septic tank, and now we're waiting on raising enough money to finish putting in ramps for disabled access.

"We're nearly there."

Ms Greenway hoped the block would be ready in time for the 2020 Wall to Wall Festival from April 3 to 5, with Dvate (Jimmy Beattie) returning to create another mural.

"There will be an art exhibition of Dvate's work in Goorambat on that Friday night so we're hoping people follow him up," she said.

"The donation from Schneider was absolutely fantastic."

Visitation to Goorambat has surged since the first mural was painted as part of the 2017 Wall to Wall Festival.

But bus tours and grey nomads have been relying on the facilities of the local Railway Hotel and a hall owned by a Mechanic's Institute, which is opened as needed by a dedicated, 89-year-old volunteer.

Alan Saunders also sells souvenirs to fundraise, and both he and the Goorambat and District Community Group were recognised at Benalla Council's Australia Day awards.
