Jack Stewart, who turns 15 on February 14, will follow other CAW players Ryan Bartel (2016-17) and Coby Fitzsimmons (2018-19) in contesting the prestigious championships in Ballarat.

"It's pretty special, I don't really know what to expect because I've never been at that level, it's pretty exciting, I'm pumped for it," he said.

Stewart is a hard-hitting middle order batsman and fast-medium bowler.

"He can bowl around 105kmh, which is pretty good for that age," Victoria Country assistant coach Stephen Brodie said.

"He's got the ability to bowl at the death and in cricket terms he bowls a heavy ball, he's hard to get underneath and hard to get away.

"One of his strengths in batting is that he's able to go through the gears. He can start his innings slowly, but he can also hit the ball to and over the boundary.

"In a T20 sense, he doesn't take long to get started and he's also a great runner between the wickets and can also rotate the strike.

"Jack's had a great year as a bottom age player at rep level."

Cricket Australia is determined to find all-rounders at all levels and the youngster has already shown his ability at first grade, hitting an unbeaten 35 on debut for Raiders against Lavington on January 25.

In an unforgettable day for the family, he shared an 82-run stand with his father Ben against one of the premiership fancies.

"It was pretty good to be out there batting with him," Jack said.

"He's always someone to talk too about cricket, he's a great support obviously and always happy to throw me a few balls for practice, so it's good playing cricket with him."

Victoria starts its campaign against NSW Magenta on February 20.

After the carnival, selectors will name a representative team to play as a Cricket Australia under 16 outfit in next season's under 17 titles.
