Ayden Patrick Walsh targeted an ATM at the building with another man on May 11 last year.

The pair, who were covered in a bid to avoid detection, had repeatedly reversed a stolen truck into the TAFE and used a strap to try to remove the machine.

The ATM was damaged enough to allow $6710 in cash to be taken out of the machine.

The stolen truck broke down as the pair tried to drive away.

Walsh appeared before the Wodonga Magistrates Court this week, where he pleaded guilty to charges including criminal damage, truck theft, burglary and theft.

The damage bill caused by the ram raid was about $120,000.

The matter will return to the Wodonga County Court circuit, which starts on May 25, for further plea.

Walsh, who is heavily tattooed, has been on a court program which included drug and alcohol treatment while on bail.

Police believe Jack McLean is the other person pictured in security camera footage at the TAFE.

But charges were dropped in the Wodonga Magistrates Court by the Office of Public Prosecution last week due to a lack of evidence.

Five police officers had told the court they had identified McLean in the footage, but magistrate Pauline Spencer said there were issues with the case.

McLean was free to leave police custody after the charges were dropped, having served seven months while on remand.
