Cr O'Connor and Indigo Shire Council do not have a monopoly on truth. People are entitled to have differing opinions on political and social issues including climate change. Scientific theories are never fixed no matter how many people believe them; they are constantly evolving. Any study of western civilisation will prove that.

There will be council elections later this year. Those ratepayers of the 32 small communities described as "very, very conservative" by Cr O'Connor need to elect councillors who represent their beliefs. Maybe then Indigo Shire will stop wasting thousands of taxpayers' dollars on consultants and social engineering and concentrate instead on fixing the neglected infrastructure of the shire - "rates, roads and rubbish".

Some players from the Albury Football Club were guilty of disgraceful behaviour on a visit to the Upper Murray. There must be consequences for those actions, and the most appropriate course of action would be a suspension of matches. Nothing else would be good enough.

The consequences for their actions must hurt for the lesson to be learned, and for respect to be regained from the public.

I would like to congratulate Lorna Read for her brilliant letter ('Too much Father Peter', The Border Mail, February 13) regarding Peter MacLeod-Miller's leftist letters to the editor in The Border Mail.

Maybe if the Father MacLeod-Miller concentrated on what he should be preaching (The Bible), then his congregation might increase. As someone who was married in St Matthews Church 60 years ago this month, he lost me years ago along with quite a few of my friends and acquaintances.

I wonder how Father MacLeod-Miller can hold the position in the church that he does, when his views conflict with church beliefs and teachings.

Everyone has an opinion and is entitled to do so but this does not entitle anyone to continue to push their leftism agenda on the majority of people so often without expecting some criticism.

The Commercial Club should hang its head in shame at culling cockatoos at the Albury Golf Club at a time when so much wildlife has been lost with bushfires.

We are also in a time of drought when the birds were probably just looking for food and water. Surely they weren't causing that much damage.
