Albury's Logan Sandland and Alec Franzke impressed at the Northern Country Region Championships on the weekend, both breaking state Victorian records.

Little Athletics competitor Sandland threw 18.36 in the under-14 boys' shot put to secure the record, while Franzke shattered the under-12 boys' 1500m record with a time of 4:53.01 in Bendigo.
It was also a good weekend for youngster Tanamai Szirom who walked away with four gold medals for her four under-9 girls' events at the championships.
The Albury centre finished with a total of 103 medals at the regional qualifier, including 49 gold, 38 silver and 16 bronze.
Albury Little Athletics president Brett Schofield said it was a great achievement from the club's 43 competitors who traveled to contest the Country Region Championships.
The young Border athletes will now contest the State Championships to be held at Casey Fields at Cranbourne in March.
