Councillors will be presented with a stakeholder engagement plan on Monday to guide the re-naming with options including using stadium instead of ground, using Albury, Lavington or Albury-Wodonga in the name or whether regional should be included.
"It is important to have a name for the venue that identifies the location and purpose of the facility at regional, state and national level," council's leisure facilities team leader Michael Stanton said in a report.
"Changing the name of any facility can be contentious with several opposing views often presented."
Consultation with stakeholders and community is proposed.
