Mayor David Wortmann discussed the council's goals with Agriculture, Drought and Emergency Management Minister David Littleproud in the Upper Murray on Saturday.
"We've got the recovery hub up and running but we want to get more agencies in there," Cr Wortmann said.
"We haven't got enough room yet so we're busy renovating the next stage of the recovery hub and we'd love some federal and state assistance there."
The minister toured Corryong, Cudgewa, Tintaldra and Walwa as well as Bright in Alpine Shire in a visit hosted by Indi MP Helen Haines.

Mr Littleproud said having gone through the first stage of short-term relief "now it's about understanding recovery".
He praised the determination he witnessed as residents focused on projects like resurfacing the tennis courts and repairing the playground at Cudgewa.
"They were more about the well being of the community, about rebuilding the lives of those community members that were impacted," he said.
In Bright, tourist operators affected by the fire season were thinking ahead about how the government could help businesses "iron out the peaks and troughs of their cash flow".
"Actually investing in some of the infrastructure to help them become better prepared for future disasters and making sure that their cash flows are spread out further throughout the year," Mr Littleproud said.
He planned to talk with national bushfire recovery co-ordinator Andrew Colvin upon his return to Canberra.
Mr Colvin is scheduled to visit the North East in April.
