Wodonga police have arrested and charged a man in his 30s with multiple offences after he allegedly brandished a imitation firearm in a KFC in Wodonga.
Dectective Leading Senior Constable Tracy Jarrott said the man was charged with being a prohibited person possessing a firearm, possessing an imitation handgun and resisting police.
She said police were called by KFC staff shortly after midday, who reported a man in the restaurant's outdoor area had what looked to be a gun, and appeared to be cleaning it.
Police responded and the man was allegedly aggressive and non-compliant.
Leading Senior Constable Hudson said when confronted by police the man put the imitation firearm into a bag.
He then allegedly came at police, refusing to put the bag down.
Dectective Leading Senior Constable Jarrott said weapons were drawn but in the end not needed.
She said it was a frightening experience for restaurant goers.
In a hearing the man was bailed to appear before Wodonga Local Court on June 23.

A man in his 30s has been arrested after he allegedly brandished an imitation firearm near KFC in Wodonga.
Wodonga police Leading Senior Constable Josh Hudson said police received a call about 12pm about a man carrying what looked to be a pistol through a public area.
He said the caller said the man appeared to be cleaning or taking the weapon apart.
The imitation pistol was completely black.
Leading Senior Constable Hudson said when confronted by police the man put the imitation firearm into a bag.

Police drew a taser but were able to arrest the man without using it.
The man, who is believed to be new to the area, was arrested for failing to provide ID and identify himself but would likely be charged with resisting arrest and offences related to the imitation firearm.
