A 53-year-old man was shot in the leg on June 10 after three men forced their way inside and demanded money.
He was subsequently taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The offenders drive off in a white Kia Sorrento with false number plates 100 4XI, followed by a grey Mitsubishi Outlander.
Police believe the vehicles travelled north along the Hume Highway and the white Kia was seen in Goulburn, NSW on June 12, when it was involved in a petrol drive-off at about 12pm.
They may have stopped in Albury-Wodonga along the way.
Acting Inspector Paul Lloyd from the Armed Crime Squad said investigators are confident that someone out there knows who is responsible for the shooting.
"We know they have head north to Goulburn and we're keen to know if they stopped anywhere along the way," he said.
"The fact they've gone on and continued to commit offences interstate highlights how important it is that we locate them and prevent further harm to the community."
Anyone with information or recognises either of the vehicles is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
