The ride-sharing giant announced this week drivers can sign up across the entire state of NSW with the Border confirmed as an "important regional centre".
The popular alternative to traditional taxis will be switched on in April with riders able to find a driver in town by Easter.
"We're turning the Uber service area on from border to border in NSW," a Uber spokesperson told The Border Mail.
"In literally every square metre of NSW riders will be able to look at the app and if there is a driver in that area, they'll be able to get a trip.
"What we see is once the supply of drivers is there, the demand from riders inevitably follows.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"The cost and speed to become accredited in NSW meant we had the confidence in being able to launch state-wide.
"Albury is an important regional centre and we've had demand to bring Uber to the region.
"Once we turn the app on in April, riders in Albury will be able to start trips on the NSW side of the border, and can be dropped off in either NSW or Victoria."
The rollout is only north of the border and Uber admits there are "challenges" with border towns including Albury-Wodonga.
"Given ridesharing is regulated at a state level, there are challenges for cross-border centres," a spokesperson said.
"Once the NSW expansion is complete we'll prioritise how we can best fully expand into these areas on both sides of the border."
NSW's ridesharing laws allows driver-partners from other states, who have passed the necessary background and driving checks, to also drive in NSW.
Albury drivers wanting to sign up will have to undergo background checks, driving checks, and other requirements. The process can take as little as one week and costs just under $100.
Uber Australia general manager Dom Taylor said people "anywhere in NSW" can now sign-up to drive with the app.
"That's ahead of April where we will be turning on the app across every square metre of NSW," he said.
"We've brought forward our plans to bring Uber to regional NSW to help fire and drought-affected regions get back on their feet."
Border taxi companies, including 13cabs which has only been in town since November, were approached for comment.
