Two men were captured taking the cameras from a Page Court home in the early hours of January 26.
Wodonga detectives hope by releasing the footage, the public will be able to identify the offenders.
Detective Leading Senior Constable Ian Deverell said police believe the men targeted the house and only left with the cameras despite trying to break in to the house.
"The offenders tried to gain entry into the house but were unsuccessful on this occasion," he said.
"The offenders have gone there for the purpose of stealing the surveillance cameras from the address.
"They were there for some time and we are releasing the footage in hope someone in the community recognises these two males."
The footage shows the two men wearing hoodies, trying to conceal their identity from the cameras, but one man's face is shown clearly while he steals one of the cameras.
Detective Deverell said that man had distinctive tattoos and facial hair which he believes someone will recognise.
"It is not a smart offence," he said.
"And in this case they were caught on the cameras committing this offence," he said.
"We believe the people are involved are from our local community.
"They have gone here with hoodies and gloves on with the sole purpose of stealing these cameras.
"They know what they were doing and where the cameras were situated at this premises."
