Wodonga-raised Murray is a member of the prestigious European Tour, the world's second largest behind the USPGA, with next month's Maybank Championship in Malaysia and China Open scheduled to be played at a later date.

Murray had given some consideration to contesting the Kenya Open, but it was cancelled by the country's government over the virus outbreak, while he won't tackle next week's Indian Open.

"It's very difficult for anyone, even with the best of knowledge, to know what to do," the Melbourne-based Murray said during a visit back to his hometown.

"You've got to take the appropriate action and the European Tour has done that and they've done a fantastic job in communicating with us what's going on.

"You're just a bit cautious going through airports, you try your absolute best to wash your hands and don't touch your face."

The European Tour has events in a number of countries, including Australia, which hosted the Vic Open last month.

Murray also contested the richest event of his blossoming career in the US$10.5million WGC-Mexico Championship last month.

He was tied for 15^th heading into the final round, but shot a four-over par 75 to finish tied 48^th.

"I'm playing really consistently, this year I've been up and around the top 10 most weeks," he said.

"My final rounds just haven't been that flash, no particular reason, I got food poisoning in Mexico so I ran out of a bit of steam there."

Murray will now practice what he learnt facing the world's best in Mexico, while he's also planning to watch Essendon at the MCG.
