McEwan had been linked to joining rival club Wodonga this season.
The athletic tall originally played for Yackandandah when he first relocated to the Border in 2016 and enjoyed a dominant season.
He was regarded as one of the premier big men in the competition during his one year stint at the Roos.
McEwan was involved in a clearance wrangle at the start of 2017 after he lodged a clearance to join Albury despite having a contract with Yackandandah.
The Roos initially refused to clear their ruckman before relenting.
McEwan won the league reserves best and fairest in 2018.
