Tony Armstrong will help lead Yokayi Footy on NITV.
It replaces the Marngrook Footy Show which was axed last year.
Armstrong, who represented Adelaide, Sydney and Collingwood, in the AFL, will be joined by Brisbane premiership winner Darryl White and AFLW advocate Bianca Hunt.
"It's kind of been a bit of a whirlwind from last year, with calling the footy, and this," Armstrong said.
"It's not something I thought I would do but when the opportunity came I said 'yes' and I jumped at it."
Yokayi Footy would be more entertainment-driven than a traditional footy panel "kicks, marks, handballs" show, Armstrong said.
He said inspiration had been drawn from US programs such as Saturday Night Live and SportsCenter.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Armstrong said the show was created with an aim to attract a younger audience than that which watched Marngrook.
"I think there is something in it for everyone," he said.
"There's obviously a lot of people that were long-time fans of Marngrook....(but) there's enough in this show for fans of Marngrook and I'd like to think they would hop on and join us and make the show something special."
Former Marngrook co-host Gilbert McAdam will be part of Yokayi Footy, reporting from regional communities.
Yokayi is a phrase from the Noongar language of Western Australia that means a shout of victory.
Yokayi Footy, which runs for 30 minutes, will debut on Wednesday night at 8 o'clock on NITV and be replayed on Fridays at 3pm on SBS Viceland.
The Aboriginal television outlet is also broadcasting The Colour of Your Jumper, a discussion segment previously aired solely through the AFL's website.
It is hosted by former Marngrook regular Shelley Ware who is joined by former league players Mathew Stokes (Geelong) and Andrew Krakouer (Richmond and Collingwood).
Described as a program that tackles both serious and light-hearted issues facing Indigenous players in the AFL it will be broadcast from 9.30pm on Tuesdays.
