After initially putting in provisions for competitions to run as normal with protective measures in place regarding COVID-19, Hockey Victoria reassessed its decision and opted to suspend all hockey activities immediately and push back the commencement of the winter season to Friday, May 1.

HAW president Bert Eastoe said the association will work on a plan to allow individuals and small groups to train at the hockey facilities across the region.
"We don't see its appropriate to lock those up when the community needs some connection, but not such that it will put everybody at risk," he said.
Eastoe added its unlikely the Albury-Wodonga Spitfires will feature in the Canberra-based Capital League until the situation improves.
