TRAINER Mitch Beer was thrilled with the third place performance of Sky Call over the Albury carnival ahead of next week's assault on the Country Championship final in Sydney.

Sky Call was narrowly beaten in the $75,000 City Handicap, (1175m) by Mount Horeb who claimed back-to-back sprint feature's.
It was the four-year-old mare's first hit-out since winning the lucrative Country Championship qualifier at Albury in February.

Beer said Sky Call would derive enormous benefit from the run and was ready to peak in the $500,000 final at Randwick over 1400m on April 4.
"I was over the moon with the run of Sky Call," Beer said.
"She really hit the line and will relish the step-up to 1400m.
"Importantly she pulled-up a treat.
"Racing NSW indicated on Monday that racing will still go ahead so fingers crossed that's the case."
