BRODIE Loy hopes to be back riding early next month after suffering a dislocated thumb and ligament damage.
He sustained the injury after being dislodged from Confidant shortly after the winning post in the Albury Guineas last Friday.
Despite feeling the effects of the fall, Loy fulfilled the rest of his riding obligations including partnering second-favourite Fun Fact in the Gold Cup.
"Obviously I wanted to ride in the cup so I thought I could put up with a bit of pain," Loy said.
"I went to the emergency department of the Albury Base Hospital after the meeting to have it looked at.
"I went to the physio on Thursday because it wasn't getting any better and he said my thumb was dislocated which wasn't diagnosed at the hospital.
