Official advice is that people should only be out of their homes when it is essential, so Benambra MP Bill Tilley has called for common sense when it comes to heading out for a fish.
"I know many have decided to stay home and play their part," he said.
"They have plans to clean up tackle boxes, service fishing reels and boats, sort their fishing photos for bragging rights with their mates, put their feet up reading fishing magazines and continuing to purchase fishing supplies from businesses that support fishing - we have plenty of retail stores right here on the Border.
"I also know there are social distancing rules that would appear to provide an opportunity for solo fishing ventures, but let's be blunt - If you don't have to go out, don't."

The Victorian Fisheries Authority has also said the social distancing requirement applied to fishing.
"Please do not congregate in groups on piers and jetties, and avoid transmission risks in regional towns," in said in a statement.
