The COVID-19 pandemic has led to the postponement and cancellation of a number of events the Border association was set to participate in.

Under-11 and under-12 boys were locked in for the Boys and Girls FC tournaments in Bendigo this month, which was cancelled, while the Victorian Country Championships slated for the June long weekend at Geelong have been called off.

The annual Riverina Branch Championships have been postponed until September, while a call is yet to be made on the Country Cup, played in six locations across NSW.

AWFA high performance director Belinda Mathews would hate to see the players miss out after putting in the effort to get to this stage.

"It might be your last year of playing for your state and if you're not given that opportunity, it's pretty tough," she said.

"I hope Football NSW will put something in place where this won't get overlooked. It might be a reduced season, but I hope they at least get an opportunity to get to the highest level they possibly can."

Football Federation Australia has postponed all grassroots football activity until at least April 14.
