A border business leader believes the $130 billion federal government wages subsidy open to permanent, part-time and casual employees has been a game changer in the economic fight against coronavirus.

"The amount of $130 billion is such a lot of money and some might think is it too much, but in the current economic climate it's not," he said.
"The economy was already soft because we've had the drought and then bushfires.
"It has given people confidence that someone has got their back and the end will come.
"It is great for all the hospitality workers and all the workers in their supply chains."
Mr Farrah said it also represented a win for manufacturers who can retain staff.
"They can't do that without cashflow," he said.
"People can stay on and do something important and meaningful."
