Lifeline Albury-Wodonga, Salvos Stores and some Vinnies have closed their shops during the past week.
Lifeline Albury-Wodonga chief executive Matt Burke said the organisation had closed its Albury and Wodonga shops and halted donations last weekend to protect staff and customers.
He said many volunteer staff were elderly and fewer people had been coming to the shops recently.
"At the moment we've pulled in our bins from Albury, Wodonga, Lavington and Thurgoona," he said.
"We don't have enough trucks and drivers and then you'd need volunteers to sort the donations, anyhow.
"If you can hang on to donations for as long as humanely possible we will be back in operation as soon as the health department gives us the go-head."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Salvos Stores temporarily closed all of their shops and halted home collections on Wednesday.
Salvos Stores national director Matt Davis said it was the best decision in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"While we don't know how long we will be closed, supporting our teams, customers and donors is the most important thing," he said.
"We will continue to play our role in delivering the Salvos mission in Australia and know that everyone will work together to spread community spirit, support each other and those who are most vulnerable in our society."
Vinnies Lavington and Wodonga remained open for now, the latter on reduced hours, though they were not encouraging donations.
Midweek a Vinnies spokeswoman said most Vinnies Shops across NSW have temporarily closed but they were still welcoming donations of quality clothing and items through donation bins outside premises.
