But with no show in Sydney this year, the Country Women's Association of NSW has started selling virtual scones and Devonshire teas in response to losing its biggest fundraiser.

Murray group president Lynette Buck, an Albury Evening branch member who is also on the show catering committee, said Tea Room proceeds from the annual show raised about $150,000 for CWA disaster and emergency funds.

"There was one day, I think it was over the Easter holidays, we baked 5000 scones," she said.

"We're up at five in the morning and pack ourselves off to the showgrounds and we're home at eight at night."

The first bake of the day usually began about 7am ahead of the doors opening at 9am and then "our line never stops ending".

"We're not very often behind, but if we are a bit slow or just had a whole lot of people come in, people stand there and wait, they don't care, they want our scones," Mrs Buck said.

NSW president Stephanie Stanhope said the show's cancellation as part of coronavirus control measures was an enormous disappointment.

"The Easter Show Tea Room is a big part of our heritage and this year would have been our 73^rd year in running it," she said.

"But at the moment all of our lives have had to change and we are adapting along with everyone else.

"So with technology playing such a huge role in helping us make the changes required, we decided to use it to our advantage."

At the association's online shop, people can buy their fill of virtual delicacies, with all donors receiving a scone recipe to try out at home.

The money raised will support the CWA's grants schemes and assistance programs.

Mrs Buck said she had enjoyed being part of the show catering in previous years.

"I'm only disappointed that we couldn't get there and hopefully things will go ahead next year, after this break," she said.
