Frenchman Gauthier Robin returned to Australia to start a second season with Albury United, but only managed one game before the competition was turned on its head by the COVID-19 pandemic.
While his main reason to come back to the Border was to play soccer, Robin said he doesn't plan to return to France at this stage or consider moving to a major city in Australia as the situation continues to develop around the world.
Three of Robin's friends in his home town of Bar-le-duc, which has a population of around 15,000, have contracted the coronavirus in recent weeks.
He believes it will be much safer for him to remain in Albury given the difficulties with travel.

"It was a huge decision to come back to Australia and it would be just as tough to leave Albury," Robin said.
"I have a lot of friends here and have started to build something here with soccer and everything else.
"If I don't have soccer, I can find other work elsewhere (in Australia), but soccer is the most important thing here.
"If there's a lockdown, I don't think I'll take the risk with work.
"I see what's happening in France and I don't want the same to happen here.
"It's pretty quiet here in Albury, but my hometown in France, Bar-le-duc, has around 15,000 residents and three of my friends there have the virus.
"Everyone can get it, so they're very afraid."
Robin has been in regular contact with his family and said they are safe.
He has recently renewed his visa and isn't required to make any decision on his playing future until February 2021, but hopes he will get back on the park at some stage this season.
Meanwhile, Wangaratta coach Daniel Vasilevski said English recruits Ellis Williamson and Jack Oldham are continuing to work and are handling life without any soccer.
Vasilevski revealed the duo plans to stay in Australia and season the season out despite it being postponed until at least May 31 by Football Federation Australia.
"Ellis and Jack are coping well, it's 'Burchy' (two-time AWFA Star Player Adam Burchell) that isn't (laughs), he misses football badly," Vasilevski said.
AWFA is hoping for a 13-week window later in the year to complete the remainder of its season.
