The field days board have given themselves until June 30 to see whether or not the three-day event can go ahead due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Chief executive Belinda Anderson is hopeful they will be able to hold the event in September as planned.
"We are a bit like everyone at the moment - you just don't know what is going to happen," she said.
"We don't want to make a decision now and then have restrictions lifted by September and shoot ourselves in the foot.
"That is why we have decided to wait until June 30 and make a decision then."

Ms Anderson said like most businesses they have had to let go of some staff.
"We just don't have work for some of our casuals at the moment, but if we can go ahead that will flip on its head and we will probably have full time work for them for a few months," she said.
"Some field days have already made the decision to postpone until the end of the year.
"We don't want to do that.
"Henty will either go ahead or be cancelled.
"With the region we are in basically after field days farmers are usually straight into harvest and hay."
The field days board meets once a month, now virtually, and will make a decision on June 30.
"We just want to give us enough time to pull it together if we can go ahead - a lot can happen in the next few months," Ms Anderson said.
"We have already had more than 250 exhibitors booked and we are taking expressions of interest online now as well.
"We hope it will go ahead, we don't know on what scale just yet, but like anything at the moment we just have to play the waiting game.
"Being an open air event might be a good thing."
