With the surface of their home ground deteriorating at Victoria Park, The Rock, officials have used the coronavirus break to start the four-month project.
"It used to be the headquarters of the Farrer league back in the 1960s and '70s," TRYC co-president Mark Driscoll said.
"We thought if we get to a situation where we've got football, we've got Yerong Creek up our sleeve.

"It used to be a beautiful ground and obviously it's still maintained.
"It's always well-kept by the locals."
TRYC has committed $10,000, plus $5000 from The Rock And District Touch Association.
After securing a grant from Lockhart Shire Council last week for the remaining $14,700, the parties will go ahead with removing the concrete cricket pitch and laser-levelling the surface.
