The proposal involves the league being split into northern (Osborne, Rand-Walbundrie-Walla, Billabong Crows, Henty, Lockhart and CDHBU) and southern (Brocklesby-Burrumbuttock, Culcairn, Holbrook, Howlong, Jindera and Murray Magpies) divisions .

Sides would play each other once with the top two teams in each conference advancing to semi-finals.

The competition would run from August 8 to September 19 and is designed to give the league its latest possible starting date without pushing into October.

The other two options being floated by the league are starting on June 15 with sides playing each other once and football being abandoned for 2020.

While a June 15 kick-off is believed to be the favoured option among clubs, the situation will become clearer after May 11 when AFL clubs are told when they can resume playing from the coronavirus ban.

Hume league president Brendan I'Anson said he was in the process of receiving feedback from clubs but stressed nothing was in concrete.

"We have put some ideas out there but at the end of the day we are waiting for government guidelines," I'Anson said.

"It's fair to say we have received a range of feedback but I won't go into those specifics at this stage.

"One thing a lot of clubs are keen on is for some sort of junior football even if it's very late in the season."
