Wodonga Historical Society has been posting online jigsaw puzzles of former town landmarks on its Facebook page since April 8.
That first puzzle of the old post office on South Street corner brought requests for more as well as memories from former employees and nearby residents.
The activity caught the attention of New Zealand's Waiuku Museum, which called it a great idea and started making its own puzzles.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Wodonga Historical Society secretary/treasurer Uta Wiltshire said she used a free website to create the Wodonga-themed jigsaws.
"We've got some great photos and I thought, well, it's another way of putting out our history and keeping people amused for 10 minutes a day," she said.
"And it took off.
"The fact that it made its way to New Zealand is what gobsmacked me."
Subjects have included Tooles Disposals, St Luke's Anglican Church, the border fruit fly control point and High Street, with photo quality guiding the choices.
"For historic purposes any picture is better than none, but if you're doing a jigsaw, it can't be too fuzzy," Mrs Wiltshire said.
