Areas are divided on a postcode basis, showing six cases were recorded for the main Albury 2640 postcode and two people tested positive in the 2641 postcode taking in Lavington - making up the eight cases in Albury.
The map also reveals a break-down of Federation and Greater Hume cases for the first time, with two people from Howlong, five in the 2646 postcode and one person in Mulwala and one person in 2642 which takes in Burrumbuttock testing positive.
The Culcairn (2660) and Holbrook (2644) postcodes each had one case.
Other stats for each postcode include:
- 2714: 4 cases, 30 people tested
- 2713: 1 case, 37 people tested
- 2716: 3 cases, 10 people tested
- 2700: 1 case, 55 people tested
- 2680: 3, 404 people tested
- 2660: 1 case, 13 people tested
- 2644: 1 case, 14 people tested
- 2642: 1 case, 8 people tested
- 2627: 3 cases, 154 people tested
- 2650: 10 cases, 1381 people tested
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced the new map was live on Friday morning.
"NSW in an Australian-first have been able to produce heat maps, which will be live," she said.
"This provides important data on where the cases are and how many people have been tested in those areas, but also give a good picture to people who might live in a hotspot to make sure they're extra-cautious.
"You'll be able to see down to that granular level."
Even if people developed symptoms for the virus while away from the Border - like in the case of a young Albury person who tested positive while isolating in a Sydney Hotel - their case is added to the tally where they have a residential address.
The experience of Southern NSW is quite similar to other regional areas across the state, although Wagga is in the second-lowest tranche of cases, rather than the lowest like other areas, with the area having similar cases to Jervis Bay, Orange and Maitland.
However nearly all cases recorded across postcodes in Southern NSW have recovered, with 39 out of 45 cases managed through the Murrumbidgee Local Health District - which encompasses the area - now recovered.
Although some areas like Deniliquin have seen no new cases, people are still being cautious - 116 people in the 2710 postcode were tested.
