Light poles were installed on the western side of Jelbart Park this week and will undergo final testing from electricians next week before being given the all clear to use.
It will allow matches to be played under lights on both of United's pitches for competition points.
United vice-president Nigel Semmens has been instrumental in moving the project towards completion since a success grant application for funding in 2018.
"We spoke to AWFA early on about if and when the season fires back up again. If they require a ground to use for night matches, play catch up games or get more games in during the season, that ground is definitely there for them to do that," Semmens said.
"I think AWFA have got a couple of other grounds with lights upgraded that will help as well. It will be good for everyone.
"The possibility when you've got that many grounds going is you can change the dynamics of weekend soccer.

"If there's opportunities to play marquee games on Saturday nights, it would create a good atmosphere.
"I'd say within the next week we'll be down there giving them a test run to see them going at night.
"We'll be anxiously waiting for soccer to be allowed to play again so we can use them."
Semmens said it's some positive news for the club and the AWFA community during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, which saw the season postponed after just one round.
"They're all missing soccer and the club and training," Semmens added.
"To see something like this happen gives them something to look forward to and come back to.
"The reaction from everyone at the club was pretty exciting on social media and text messages were flying around.
"People were driving around taking photos of the lights and sending them backwards and forwards to each other (laughs). It was good to see."
Lighting for a training field behind the playing pitches is set to be completed in July.
"It's a pretty dark area down in that corner and never really gets utilised for any training in the winter months. It will allow for a lot more, especially with the huge amount of miniroos players we've got now," Semmens said.
"I think there's close to 140 miniroos kids that train on a Wednesday night and we have all our other teams wanting to train as well, so there will be plenty of room to fit them all in.
"I think us a club, the council, AWFA and all the contractors are happy to see it come to fruition after a lot of planning and organising."
