Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad detectives began investigating last Wednesday following reports a 15-year-old girl had been sexually abused and was the subject of child abuse material.
Officers visited a North Albury home about 8.10am on Friday and arrested the man.
Police said a crime scene warrant executed at the property led to officers seizing a mobile phone and a 'gel' blaster gun.
The man was taken to Albury Police Station and charged with three counts of sexual intercourse with a child (aged between 10 and 16), use child for purpose of producing child abuse material and possess unauthorised prohibited firearm.
"Police will allege in court that the man had sex with the girl in his home on multiple occasions and harassed her to send sexually explicit images of herself to him," a police statement said.
The man was refused bail and appeared at Wagga Local Court on Saturday and is next due to appear at the same court on Monday, May 11.
Anyone with concerns about suspected child abuse or exploitation should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page nsw.crimestoppers.com.au.
