Murrumbidgee Local Health District chief executive Jill Ludford said on Wednesday the efforts so far had been working as the region reached 26 days - almost two cycles of community transmission - without any new positive results.
But she warned more incidents occurring remained "a real risk".
"The virus is very, very contagious and it can get out of control in a community really, really rapidly," Ms Ludford said.
"COVID-19 is highly infectious early in the disease so when people start to feel crook, that's when they're most contagious."
EARLIER: Coronavirus testing continues on the Border, with Wednesday's updates revealing the region remains free of the disease.
Albury Wodonga Health reported 2323 patients had been tested, 95 more than the previous day, and no new positive results recorded.
The service said there were no active COVID-19 cases among those who previously tested positive through Albury Wodonga Health and no COVID-19 positive inpatients.
Anyone with symptoms, however mild, is advised to seek testing with their GP or on (02) 6058 4444.
